Karen’s focus is on relationships, working with Whānau Ora Collectives and agencies, Māori health professional groups, communities and whānau. Managing the day to day mahi this involves as well as supporting PHARMAC staff. Karen brings mātauranga Māori, health professional expertise and programme management experience from her previous role as National Programme Manager, One Heart Many Lives.
Karen has extensive sales and marketing experience having worked in the pharmaceutical industry in sales management and in pharmaceutical marketing and brand management on a national and global basis in the UK and Europe.
A Registered General and Obstetric Nurse with Post Graduate diploma, Karen has worked in the hospital arena over many years in New Zealand, Australia and England.
Karen completed her MBA at the University of Warwick Business school when working in the pharmaceutical industry (UK).
Karen is married to Michael. They have two teenage children, Hanna and Richard.
